On May 26, 2020, in the Province of Salta, Provincial Decree No. 302/2020 established the Agency for Scientific Promotion and Technological Innovation of the Province of Salta, with the objective of promoting and contributing to the incorporation and development of science, technology, and innovation in productive activities, as well as in educational and research policies. This agency, established under the organizational structure of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Science, and Technology, will have the following functions and powers: The aforementioned Agency is composed of a Director, a Deputy Director, and an Advisory Council made up of government representatives, university academic entities, national institutes, foundations, and business representatives. In the business sector, LA.TE ANDES Grupo Empresario Salteño GEOMAP/CONICET is represented by its President, Mr. Roberto Hernández.
- Manage specific funds from national and international organizations for scientific development projects, technology transfer, and productive innovation.
- Centralize the Provincial Executive’s liaison with the National Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation and the National Agency for Scientific and Technological Promotion.
- Guide scientific research and technological innovation toward their practical and effective application in the fields of production and education by linking academic and scientific sectors to productive institutions.
- Disseminate scientific and technological knowledge among various sectors of society and promote the value of scientific culture as a path to development.
- Identify specific technology needs to enhance the Province’s development.
- Establish actions and policies that promote the integration of science and technology into the entrepreneurial ecosystem.
- Collaborate on the development of major scientific projects for the Province.
