The American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG) Virtual Research Symposium, titled “Andean Basins: Advances in the Geological Understanding of Fold-and-Thrust Belts of the Andes,” was held from Thursday, August 20, to Friday, August 21, 2020.

LA.TE. ANDES S.A., part of the GEOMAP/CONICET Business Group, participated in this prestigious event for geoscientists focused on the study of fold-and-thrust systems in the Andes, associated basins, and their potential from an Oil & Gas perspective. In this regard, the contributions of our professionals are detailed through the following oral presentations:

  • Andino 3D®. An all-in-one structural suite: thermo-kinematic modeling applied to fault-related anticlines. The southern sub-Andean system case: the Borebigua structure. Bolivia. Presented in the session on Basin Analysis and Petroleum Systems.
  • Stratigraphic analysis of the Valle Morado area, northwestern Argentina: New perspectives. Presented during the session on Stratigraphy, Sedimentology, and Formation Evaluation.

In addition, staff from GEOMAP S.A. participated in the virtual symposium by coordinating the session on Stratigraphy, Sedimentology, and Formation Evaluation, as well as in the event’s closing discussion.

LA.TE. ANDES S.A. served as a sponsor of this major international event, which drew 213 attendees representing 66 companies, 3 associations, and 26 universities from 22 countries. In this regard, it is worth highlighting the opportunities for technical and methodological exchange and strategic development that the aforementioned virtual symposium generated.
