The American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG) Geosciences Technology Workshop (GTW) was held from Wednesday, June 6, to Friday, June 8, 2018, in the city of Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia.
LA.TE. ANDES, as part of the scheduled activities, had a booth alongside Geomap S.A. where information was provided about the various projects and activities carried out by the company, both in the field of thermocronology-geochronology (Cron.Ar) and regarding the structural modeling software Andino 3D and the development of Cri. Ar, a superconducting cryogenic magnetometer for paleomagnetic measurements.
Staff from LA.TE ANDES and XR-GEOMAP participated in this prestigious event for geoscientists linked to the Oil & Gas industry, both in oral sessions and in the poster format. In this regard, the contributions of our professionals are detailed below:
Session III: Technologies to Reduce Risk and Maximize Production. Oral session featuring the presentation:
- Time: an indispensable variable to be determined within fold and thrust belts. The Sub-Andean System case: thermochronology and geochronology as a possible solution.
Regarding the poster format, the presented works are detailed below:
- Deformation and Stratigraphic Models of the Bolivian and Argentinean Sub-Andean System: Evolution of Knowledge, Current Trends, and the Importance of Dating.
- Structural Kinematic Model Using Thermochronology and Magnetostratigraphic Constraints.
- Paleomagnetic Methods to Characterize Tectonic Systems in Active Basins.
During the conference, LA.TE. ANDES staff addressed all types of inquiries regarding the projects and techniques used, in addition to conducting demonstrations of the Andino 3D software, its applications, and the available tools, and highlighting the capabilities of the high-resolution cryogenic magnetometer serving the oil and gas industry. Attendance was high, generating opportunities for business, strategic project development, and networking with geoscientists in the sector.
