On Friday, February 23, Dr. Marcelo Vázquez Mancilla gave an informative talk as part of the traditional Friday afternoon colloquia at the Balseiro Institute – Bariloche Atomic Center. The talk included a historical overview, details on the institutional framework of the Cri.Ar project, and a presentation of the technical specifications of the magnetometer, which is currently in the final calibration phase and will begin providing paleomagnetic measurement services in approximately one month.
The Cri.Ar project is carried out by LaTe Andes in collaboration with scientists from CONICET, the National Atomic Energy Commission (CNEA), and the company Endeavour Ingeniería. Its objective is to develop a cryogenic rock magnetometer with capabilities similar to or superior to those of commercial magnetometers, at a fraction of the cost. To this end, the following team was formed:
