The country’s first Thermochronology Development Center, located in the town of Vaqueros in the province of Salta, is very close to its official opening. Construction work has been fully completed, and the installation of the laboratory’s equipment is nearly finished.

The Thermochronology Laboratory covers an area of 400 square meters and houses 16 new workrooms, consisting of: a storage and central services room, a grinding room, four sample preparation rooms, a fission track measurement room,  a Raman microspectrometry room, a numerical modeling room, a room for research fellows, a seminar and meeting room  (capacity 16 people), and two rooms for the administration and management unit.

Currently, the facilities are being used exclusively by LaTe Andes staff and have been visited by researchers and doctoral students from the National University of Salta, as well as officials from CONICET’s Technology Outreach and Press Office.
