The 1st ANDES-GEO (Agua Negra Deep Experiment Site) International Workshop was held from Wednesday, November 14, to Friday, November 16, 2018, in the city of San Juan, Argentina.
ANDES is an international initiative for the construction and operation of the first underground laboratory (1,750 meters below the surface) for studies related to particle physics. It is located in the heart of the South American Andes on the international border between Argentina and Chile. To maximize the project’s scientific impact, a strong multidisciplinary component was necessary from the outset, including a geophysical and geoscientific perspective (ANDES-GEO), in an underground laboratory within an unprecedented active orogen, enabling opportunities for both basic and applied research.
LA.TE. ANDES S.A., as part of the planned activities, provided information about the various projects and activities carried out by the company, both in the field of thermocronology-geochronology (Cron.Ar) and regarding the structural modeling software Andino 3D and the development of Cri.Ar, a superconducting cryogenic magnetometer for paleomagnetic measurements.
The staff of LA.TE ANDES S.A. participated in this prestigious event through various oral presentations. The contributions of our professionals are detailed below:
The development of a superconductive rock magnetometer and software for the integration of geological-geophysical data (Ing. Mg. Nicolás Hernández)
La.Te. Andes S.A., a new geothermochronology application and research center in Argentina, South America (Sofía Bordese, B.S.)
During the conference, staff from LA.TE. ANDES S.A. addressed all types of inquiries regarding the projects and techniques used, in addition to conducting demonstrations of the Andino 3D software, its applications, and the available tools, and highlighting the capabilities of the high-resolution cryogenic magnetometer for the oil and gas industry and the applied scientific field. Attendance was high, generating opportunities for business and the development of strategic projects.
