Erosion rates

Erosion rates indicate the speed at which rock or sedimentary material is removed from the Earth's surface by erosive processes. They express how much of the landscape is eroded over a given geological time period.

What They Measure

Erosion rates can indicate how much rock thickness was removed; how quickly a mountain erodes; how much surface area a watershed loses; and the intensity of geomorphological processes.
