As part of the \u201cGeological Wednesdays\u201d lecture series organized by the Geological Society of Peru, the president of La.Te. Andes, Roberto M. Hern\u00e1ndez, will present the lecture \u201cUnderstanding Time in Geosciences, Applied to Petroleum Systems in the Central Andes: Reducing Exploration Risk. \u2013 La Te Andes S.A.\u201d, with the following summary:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n\u201cThroughout the Central Andes, different characteristics of the Sub-Andean or Inter-Andean exploratory models can be observed from Peru to Neuqu\u00e9n, Argentina. The strata incorporated into the deformation are distinct, and the pre-Andean tectonics overlain by Andean deformation are varied, as are the ages of the Andean deformation, ranging from the Lower-Upper Cretaceous to the Paleocene-Middle Miocene.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
New knowledge recently gained through deep drilling in Argentina and Bolivia has raised questions about how much we knew and how much we did not know about the petroleum system, particularly regarding the spatial and temporal distribution of both pre-Andean and Andean tectonic processes, rock rheology, and the inapplicability of geometric models in light of the new data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
To address these issues, GEOMAP and CONICET decided to create a new system for transferring geoscience knowledge to the oil and gas industry, taking into account the demands and tight deadlines inherent in oil contracts. This process resulted in the creation of LATE ANDES S.A., supported by Argentina\u2019s Ministry of Science, Technology, and Productive Innovation.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
